Following on from 2020's Covid winner Timmoie who streeted the fleet, this year the Rhinocerous ran roughshod over all punters with a dominant display of sheer brute force tipping.

Congratulations Pete Lewis!!!  Pete wins his first ever Uglybustards Premiership.  And he got the bloody GLAMARAMA cans as well!!!

It was nip 'n' 'ckn tuck there throughout the last few rounds and the finals series, but Pete come thru in the end defeating the valiant Andy, equal on points but Pete got the chockies with a superior margin.

Third place went to Timmoie, a name I've had trouble spelling all year, a punter who has been around a while without showing much, but really pulled out all stops after entering the prize pool this year missing the coveted Uglybustards guernsey by a single point!  Ahhhhhgggggggggggg.

Griggsy Makes History With 2018 2-Peat

Retired Tasmanian Umpire Griggsy made a huge contribution to his superannuation plan and Ugly Bustards Footy Tipping history with his back-to-back win in the 2018 Joker Ladder.  It was the 3rd time Griggsy has taken home the Premiership Cup, also winning in his debut season of 2011.  He is the first punter to win 3 flags, edging ahead of the inaugural Champ Arnold Layne (2000, 2010), Denlash (2005, 2008) and Sam Griggs (2013, 2015).

Griggsy Grabs Grand Final Glory 2017

In a brutal low scoring season of tipping the Uglybustards Board is proud to announce that the 2017 Uglybustards Premiership Title has been taken out by Griggsy who claims his 2nd Cup since entering the expanded Uglybustards Tipping competition in 2011.  With two Premierships under his belt in just 7 years the controversial move by Uglybustards to allow ex-umpires from Tasmania into the competition has certainly paid off.  Maybe the AFL will sit up and take notice.

With just two weeks left in the 2017 season, I'm off to the land of the Goat and miss the prelims and the Grannie!!!! I wish it was the land of the Lethal Leigh Mathews GOAT, but instead its the land of the four-legged variety in farway Greece, where once again the Uglybustards Board of Directors have sent me in search of new recruits.  Baaahhh.

One week after a specktackulaaaaahhh effort by Sam Griggs, his old man Griggsy who is a has-been umpire in the Tas footy league, who was obviously deeply offended by last week's Uglybustards column, has gone and played the joker with the five point bonus to max out with a Terwenteeeeeeeeeeeee-threeeee-White-Pointer and hit the lead in the Uglybustards 2017 Title Premiership Cup leading the race for the Uglybustards 2017 Guernsey two weeks out from finals!!!!

2017 Prize Pool Finalised

Yes all youse Uglybaaaaaaarstaaaaaaards we are half way through the 2017 season and its the first post from the Uglybustards Administration all year!!!  There's been a ruthless cost cutting exercise by the Board who are trying to save on digital ink.  Lost my personal assistants, chauffeur and masseuse. But I will struggle on - and what a season of tipping to struggle on with! The most difficult in memory which sees Fluffy Panda hit the lead by a point over Funnybustard at the half way mark. We have a healthy prize pool of 22 entries and a good prize pool of $440. I was sorely tempted to pull up stumps and do a runner to the Bahamas!!! But I knew you'd track down Ugly Bustard's mug shot one day...

In breaking news on the eve of finals Mik Barley was a shock omission from the All-Australian team as selectors were called to account for their actions.

Known in footy circles as 'The Remonstrator', Barley topped the Uglybustards Joker and Standard season ladder minor premierships thanks to a withering burst of tipping in the final few rounds.

Sam Snares Second Title - past winners

The Hawks may have got their 3-peat but it was Sam Griggs who got his 2nd Uglybustards Champeenship on the first Saturday in October. He joins an elite group of Uglybustards dual titleholders that consists of Arnold Layne (2000, 2010), Denis Lashmar (2005, 2008) and Sam (2013, 2015).

2013 Uglybustards Champeen Sam Griggs has edged out the Ox for the 2015 minor premiership. With yet another high number of upsets on the round 23 weekend, the Ox's final Joker didn't pay off and Sam scored well to take a 4 point lead into the finals.
