AFL R14 - Port Pulverise Pies, Bombers Bask as Demetriou Bathes Belly

If ever a team's put its hand up for the final 8 it's gotta be Port Adelaide. But before we wax lyrical about the Power, spare a thought for Swans legend Adam Goodes, out for 6 weeks with a gammy leg, which is a coincidence as I'm out for 6 weeks with a gammy splint on me gammy hand. Here we are swapping gammy war wound stories outside surgery.
Adam Goodes & Uglybustard

Back to Port Power. Easybeats under Primus last year, now under the tutelage of one Kenneth Hinkley, overlooked for the Demons job, they are coming of age. Again, what does that say about Garry Lyon and their woefully inadequate coach selection process.

Unfortunately Port are doing my beloved Blues no favours as the teams they smash play us on the rebound the next week! However I am sure our plethora of number 1 draft pick talent will kick in.....by the time Juddy's in a zimmer frame.

Luckily for the Blues there is a final 9 this year, as the Essendon Performance Enhancing Drugs saga is bound to end with their not being allowed to play finals. Sad for Bomber fans after such a great season, but imagine the uproar if they won the flag. The AFL and Demetriou would be a global laughing stock (not such a bad thing you say?).  Meanwhile the Bombers maintain their innocence, expect to take the Premiership, players banned for 6 months over summer and be right for round one, 2014!

And what about those Demons! So impressed with their memory being able to belt the song out like that.

Roll the highlights reel Vangellis.  Noted for its shameless glorification of a team that has severely bent, if not completely broken the AFL rules.  Is the AFL painting themselves into a corner? Who is running the show while Demetriou suns his ample belly on his overseas holiday? Gillion 'snot-nosed-private schoolboy' McLachlan? Read on for round 14 highlights and the latest in Uglybustards tipping results.

Uglybustards Tipping Comp...

For the 4th week Sam Griggs and Andy are separated by a single point, however two-time-Uglybustards champ Arnold Layne slipped up on the Gold Coast game and is now 2 points behind, while still in third place. Billycat and Craig Nettlebeck (no doubt still on the soup after his Demons' magnificent win) join Arnold Layne on points in a battle-royale for the podium.

In the Margin comp there's been a tad of presha applied to The Lace with the margin narrowed to 26 points by 2nd placed DrBB.  Third place remains with #Car17on some 37 points back, and prize pool placegetters at this stage are Simon Williams and Amy Jones, edging out Quokka this week. Big game this week between Carlton and Collingwood could ruffle some feathers.  Just remember, the ever-consistent Blues always lose to teams above them by between 5 and 22 points and there's your tip!

More details on the Tipping Ladder page if you scroll down to the Margin ladder.

In the Trivia comp this week Griggsy holds a slender 11 point lead over yours truly and surely must be thinking about donning the brown corduroys. Gonadbreath is now 3rd, 14 points in arrears, sneaking past Rotten Ronnie by a meagre 3 points. The Weekly Prize is gaining some momentum and climbs to $15, aptly so for round 15 next week.  Best this week was powerful who tipped his mighty Port Power, but of course nobody in their right mind could ever possibly tip the Dees.

Good luck in Round 15, may the tipping Gods go with you.
