AFL Results R17 - Ablett in doubt with Leather Poisoning

As Rex Hunt used to say regularly about God; "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABLETT!!!!"
Another incredible performance by one Gary Ablett jnr to down the 'pies, sew up the Brownlow, and this week he plays his 248th game this weekend drawing level with his old man's tally. At least the Blues finally face a team coming off a high instead of on the rebound. Although how that affects the little maestro in Ablett and his ridiculously talented charges O'Meara, Prestia et al remains to be seen.

In other round 17 games Richmonds Jake King took 18 of the shortest steps in the book before kicking truly against Freo, Norf's Lindsay Thomas showed the Blues he couldn't be tackled in a telephone box, and St Kilda's Jack Steven showed Port a clean pair of heels to boot a magnificent major in a riveting last quarter where Justin 'The Hoff' Westhoff got the Power over the line at the death.

All this and more on the the round 17 highlights reel. Flick the switch Aesop. Read on for the latest in Uglybustards tipping results.

Uglybustards Tipping Comp...

As far as your trusty correspondent is concerned in the tipping Sam Griggs is well and truly home and hosed with only one tipster in Billycat within 4 points.  So let's talk about the stupendous struggle for the coveted minor places on the podium. Just one point behind Billycat we have Simon Williams jumping from 7th to third, Andy, Arnold Layne and legendary Melbourne and Sydney stalwart Craig Nettlebeck tied on 109 points. A further point back we have Mik Barley, Anthony Aiello and Jack McPhee tied on 108, and just another point back tied on 107 are Amy Jones, Glenn McPhee, powerful and olles jacyna. That's 12 tipsters within 3 points battling for 2nd and 3rd, an unprecedented situation this late in the season in Uglybustards tipping history.

In the Margin comp there was not much change as most expected a close result between Norf and Carlton, which we got. The Lace remains 23 points ahead of both #Car17on and DrBB who are now tied for 2nd. Its getting even tighter in the fight for the prize pool minor placings with Amy Jones just one point ahead of Sam Griggs who climbed from 8th to draw level with Simon Williams.  The big loser this week was Mik Barley dropping from 6th to 11th, but still in with a chance.

More details on the Tipping Ladder page if you scroll down to the Margin ladder.

In the Trivia comp I've left the door ajar for Griggsy, scoring only scoring two 8/10s.  Two perfect rounds and he's within two points. Gonadbreath is 3rd, 25 points in arrears, and Rotten Ronnie fourth a further 3 points back. The Weekly Prize was back to $5 this week but didn't go off.  Gonadbreath was closest with 8/9 and the only tipster to score that well, but Bartel and Taylor put the mockers on him missing set shots in the last minute trying to copy Stevie J.  What is wrong with a regulation drop punt these days?  Anyway, we have $10 up for grabs this week.

Good luck in Round 18, may the tipping Gods go with you.
