AFL Results R22 - Hirdys Heroes Kill Carlton

The Bombers may be out of the 2013 finals, but Zaharakis has done his best to finish off Mick Malthouse once and for all. Late in the last quarter, scores level, Mick could be seen trying in vain to squeeze a reluctant brick out of his butt cheeks. Along comes Zaharakis to ram home the winning goal with under a minute to play, just like he did against Mick on Anzac Day a few years back.

What Hirdy really said.
The Bombers' win makes you wonder whether James Hird would have been so open at the presser had they lost. If they'd gotten done, I doubt it very much, so it was a good result so we could all hear what he had to say.

While the marathon presser appeared to end at the 18 minute mark, I was lucky enough to sneak in and hang around with the likes of Robbo, BT, Caro, Dennis and Mike.  This is what Hird said after the cameras stopped rolling (see pic).

On to the highlights tape and just take a look at Motlop's mark. Almost reminds me of Jezza's over Jerker Jenkins in the 1970 GF.  Roll the tape Makarioa, then read on for the latest in Uglybustards tipping results.

Uglybustards Tipping Comp...

In what can only be described as a tumultuous week in footy tipping, many positions changed on the Uglybustards Tipping Ladder. Powerful continued his meteoric rise into second place. He was 13th at the half way mark, and 6th a couple of rounds ago. He's also shown great consistency, just being beaten out of the title in 2011 on Grand Final day, and then 3rd place last year. Sam Griggs of course holds his unassailable six point lead in our comp, but with his impressive 8/9 he climbed almost 100 rungs on the overall footytips.com.au ladder to 90th, now only three measly tips behind first place and the xbox Kinnect.

Craig Nettlebeck falls back to third place two points behind powerful while Anthony Aiello jumped  a remarkable six spots from 10th to 4th and into prize contention for third in the prize pool. However we have an incredible seven tipsters level on points fighting for the last spot on the prize podium. Arnold Layne, Amy Jones, Billycat, Mik Barley, Longee and Jack McPhee are tied on 140 with Aiello, all of them a point behind Nettlebeck.  A point further back is Simon Williams who dropped from 6th to 11th.

In the Margin comp the Magpies put the Ducks to the sword by 62 points with only Cowell and Griggsy getting close. The Lace went conservative as is her wont, but Glen mcphee narrowed the gap again and things are getting tight at the G with only 10 points in it. Sam Griggs is third overall, second in the prize pool and also applying presha to The Lace, now just some 4 goals behind. DrBB holds 4th while Simon Williams is 5th, but third in the prize pool, pegging The Lace back by a goal but still 41 points in arrears.

More details on the Tipping Ladder page if you scroll down to the Margin ladder.

In the Trivia comp we have a new second place in Rotten Ronnie who has snuck up the ladder to be within 12 points of my good self, overtaking Griggsy by a point. Gonadbreath appears to have shot his bolt and with no ammo left to fire looks destined for 4th.

The Weekly Prize of $20 was claimed by powerful who is going from strength to strength in the second half of the season. The only tipster to tip 9, he got each of the 50/50 games in the Saints and the Lions, and tipped the Bombers upset.  Back to $5 next week.

All the best in Round 23, and may the tipping Gods go with you.
